Classes are offered for children as young as two years in age.
Carnatic music combines melody & rhythm with distinct syllables that children can learn and sing
The sessions are structured to have a similar pattern for every class.
Typically we sing the swaras for a ragam several times until the children are comfortable with it.
Then we sing simple songs. The songs introduce the children to pronunciation of syllables in Sanskrit and other Indian languages.
There is usually a set of 4-5 songs & ragas we sing in each class.
The class then some simple yoga stretches. This is a fun and gentle way to introduce the potential of yoga to children at an early age.
We finish the session with coloring. The teacher continues to sing and the kids listen and repeat as they color.
